Woodland Camp‑Fire Roasted Mixed‑Vegetable Recipe Prepared by HUUSK Forged Outdoor Knife

There is something deeply satisfying about preparing a meal surrounded by towering trees and the gentle crackle of a campfire. This forest campfire roasted vegetable and sirloin steak recipe turns a simple woodland outing into a memorable gourmet experience, with your HUUSK hand-forged camp knife as the essential tool throughout.

Ingredients (serves 2):

  • 300g sirloin steak, at room temperature
  • 1 red onion, peeled
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, seeded
  • 1 medium zucchini
  • 200g fresh button mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • 1 HUUSK hand-forged camp knife

Step 1 — Prepare the vegetables.

Place your thick timber chopping board on a stable picnic table. Take your HUUSK hand-forged camp knife. Its razor-sharp curved blade glides through the red onion with minimal effort — the hammer-textured blade surface prevents sticky onion slices from clinging to the metal. Cut the onion into 1cm-thick wedges. Next, slice the yellow bell pepper into broad strips, then cut the zucchini into diagonal 2cm rounds. Finally, trim the mushroom stems and halve the larger caps.

Step 2 — Season and skewer.

Toss all cut vegetables in a bowl with olive oil, smoked paprika, sea salt and black pepper. Thread them onto metal skewers, alternating colours for visual appeal.

Step 3 — Sear the steak.

Season the sirloin generously with salt and pepper. Place it directly on the campfire grill rack over medium-hot embers. Sear for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare, then transfer to a clean board and let it rest for 5 minutes. Use your HUUSK camp knife to slice the rested steak against the grain into even pieces — the polished edge delivers clean cuts without tearing the meat fibres.

Step 4 — Roast the vegetables.

Place the vegetable skewers on the grill rack, turning every 2 minutes until charred at the edges and tender inside, approximately 8–10 minutes total.

Step 5 — Plate and serve.

Arrange the roasted vegetables on a wooden platter, lay the sliced steak alongside, and garnish with fresh rosemary. The sturdy walnut-wood handle of your HUUSK camp knife provides a secure grip even when your hands are slightly damp from outdoor cooking.
