Damascus Knife Maintenance Guide — Preserve the Beautiful Layered Pattern of Your Blade

Huusk Damascus kitchen knives are forged by stacking multiple layers of steel, creating iconic flowing patterns.

The layered structure needs extra care to avoid corrosion.

Step 1: Wash by hand only.

Dishwasher chemicals will etch the layered steel structure.

Clean the blade with warm water and soft sponge after every cut.

Avoid abrasive scrub pads that scratch the pattern.

Step 2: Wipe instantly.

Acidic food can stain Damascus steel.

Always wipe off juice and residue straight away.

Step3: Full drying.

Dry the blade and handle completely with a soft towel.

Pay special attention to the junction between blade and handle, where water easily accumulates.

Step4: Season periodically.

Apply a thin layer of food-safe knife oil every 2–3 months.

The oil forms a protective film to shield the layered steel from moisture.

Step5: Proper storage.

Store Damascus knives on a magnetic knife rack or inside a knife sheath.

Avoid rubbing against other metal utensils.

With proper maintenance, the swirling Damascus pattern will stay vivid and your blade will remain razor-sharp for years.
